Raising a Farmer

Alot of work but always room for laughter

Talking about hard stuff can be hard but there is always room for laughter.

Brenda is real. There is no fluff.

Brenda is where real life and what the stats sheet says meets.

Brenda and her husband Nathan dairy farm in Central Minnesota. For over 125 years someone in Nathans family has been milking cows on their farm making their children 6thgeneration.  Brenda and Nathan share the work load, with their children Everett and Vivian tagging along every step of the way.

As young farmers Brenda and Nathan farm on faith and love. Brenda has been open and honest about her own mental health and the steps she has taken last year. She openly shares the real truth of not always being ok.

Brenda created the Morrison County Milk Project reaching over 700 youth in her community  with whole milk and 2% chocolate milk.

Brenda shares her four values to create a strong healthy rural community: mental health, local food, farms and community.

In addition to her own blogging, she writes a bi weekly column for Agweek and other freelance writing projects. You can follow along Raising a Farmer, the good the bad and the beautiful on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. You will leave feeling empowered and want to take action.

“It is our job to create the community we want our kids to live in. It is our job to create the community we want our kids to come home to.”-Brenda Rudolph

Brenda covers topics:

From mental health (how to thrive when we are not thriving)

to how not to let the farm wreck your marriage (or relationships)

to farm transitions (what not to do)
